Want to go deeper with God?

At St James we believe that the Bible is God’s Word and that He speaks to us today through it, transforming our lives!

Study together

You may be new to studying the Bible or you may have been doing it for ages. Either way we want to encourage you in your exploration of God’s Word.

Studying the Bible on your own is fine but we think studying it together brings it alive. It allows us to ask questions and work together to find the answers. We have a couple of ways that we encourage church family to meet together to grow in their faith. Click the link below to find out more.

Resources

There are lots of resources around the help you study the Bible together. Below are the studies we have done or are currently doing at St James for you to download and use in your groups.

If you’re opening the Bible for the first time we always encourage you start with a Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) to get a picture of the life of Jesus and see what His gift to us is.

Discovery Bible Study

If you want an alternative way have a look at Discovery Bible Study. It’s a simple way to ask questions of the text you are reading, and can be applied to most passages in the Bible.

  • What does the story tell me about God?

  • What does the story tell me about people (or myself)?

  • If this is God’s word for my life how can I obey it?

  • Who am I going to tell?
